The JSDF's disaster aid job is described in Post 83 of the Self-Defense Forces Regulation of 1954, requiring models to reply to calls for guidance from prefectural governors to aid in hearth suppression, look for and rescue, and flood fighting from the reinforcement of embankments and levees.
